Thanks for joining us again in our “Real”-ationship Series! Tipping my hat to the world of real estate, I’ve been grateful to share space with Kita and Tara. It is my hope to show us all that no matter what product you have to sell, what’s most important are the relationships you build with your network, your clients, and yourself.

We begin this episode by revisiting the idea that as an adult, the rules that you may have created for yourself as a child should no longer be necessary. The younger version of yourself needed the walls of protection you put in place, but now it’s time to break free from those ideas.

By restricting the value found in your voice, you aren’t being fair to yourself, your family and friends, or your clients. The safety that you once found in keeping quiet is not allowing you to protect your people. You’ve worked hard to acquire all the knowledge that you have in your life so far, and you should most definitely share it!

So, how do we pivot? Easy! Just embody the values and characteristics of your adult self. Write a list of the things that make you good for the people you care about. Who are you? Who do you want to be? What do you want to be afraid of? What’s holding you back? Then pay attention to yourself, and make sure you are operating with these values at your core.

You know what I think of you, right? You are a protector, defender, nurturer, and listener. You are caring, compassionate, empathetic, and understanding. What if you showed up in your life more fully as this version of yourself, instead of the little kid that made the rules that would protect you?

You have a hallucination that there is another level, right? You’re absolutely right!
Take that old story that defines you and go ahead and create a new one. You’re not in the sales business, you’re in the relationship business. And it’s our job to protect our people, to be the most knowledgeable in the market. It’s our job to be an advisor – to help them find what they’re looking for based on their needs. It’s our job to get them a solution that fits all of their hopes and dreams.

To do that, you have to be operating from a place of self assuredness. You have to make sure that the little kid stays in the past, and the big bad grownup who knows how to protect people comes out to play! Take care of people so that you are a trusted guide for them. They will always come back to you if they know you are FOR THEM!

In the comments below, tell us what limiting beliefs you’ve struggled with. Are you still doing that, or have you overcome them? Can you see the difference in yourself and in your business?
