When new salespeople first start in this business, there is so much to learn. You have to get acclimated to the environment, the processes, and the management. You have to learn to go with the flow, and figure out how to get it all to work for you and your customer. You have to figure out how to stay in integrity with who you are. 

The goal is to be able to say, “This is what I do, this is how I do it, and I’m successful in this business. I help my customers and friends solve their automotive needs, and I am proud of the way I do it.” That’s what you want to figure out in the first four months. The aspiration, intensity, and ambition that we all start with usually starts to fade soon after that. Because of the way our industry teaches salespeople, there are many who need to start over, and get that hunger back. In the beginning, you need to be talking to everyone. When you begin to doubt yourself, go back to the first pillar. Who am I at my best? We want you to be excited about what you do and the way you do it. This business is a goldmine, and it is possible to make it work for you. 

We’re not saying it’s going to be easy. It takes effort and drive to figure out how to be you and help others. You’re going to have to do the work! When you are who you are at your best, what’s possible in your life will surprise you. Take the time to do the exercise below, and I promise you that your business will improve for the better. 

The key to massive success is creating and maintaining lifelong relationships. That means you have to care for and serve others. And you cannot do that fully – wholeheartedly – until you know who you are at your best, and you get good at being that person every day. 

Grab a pen and paper, and take just a couple of minutes to write down some words that describe your best self. Make sure you add in that ‘I Am’ in front of each. Write down as many single, descriptive adjectives as you can that give insight into who you are at your best – which might not be how you feel at this moment. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of how good we are, and that’s what we’re going to do right now! I’ll get you started with a few…
