Right about now I’m sure you’re saying, “What in the world is Damian talking about?” Well, don’t you worry friends. I’m so grateful to be able to tell you all about it. Let’s begin by focusing on YOU.
To build your best business, you’ve got to find awareness in every step of your process. You’re going to have to challenge yourself to see what your monsters are, and know exactly how to fight them. And so begins our new series where we’ll dive deep into teaching you exactly how to Be Aware of Your Business!
Let’s start at the beginning and take a look at your reflexes. When your space is infiltrated by doubt, or fear, or your manager’s negative vibes, what is your natural response? What defense mechanisms do you find most helpful in getting out of that energy field? And how do you relax back into your calm, charismatic self so that you can move right on with your day?
I invite you to watch this week’s video, and begin to question everything!
Fight, flight, or freeze. When you’re under attack, your natural response is to do one of these things. When anxiety or fear shows up, this is when it really counts to go into that full awareness of what you do. Paying attention to your next move will make you more powerful in every aspect of your life.
When your world is hijacked, you don’t have control over it. How can you thrive when you are not in control of what will happen next? When distractions show up in your world, they are reflected in your productivity, your profitability, your future. Your business depends on you being in charge of the next move. Missing a step today will show up in a year. With awareness of this moment, you are always becoming better.
What are some ways to relax back into your best self after a moment like this? Try some of these techniques. It’s best to practice them before conflict and stress arise, as they will be more effective and your body will respond more quickly when you really need it.
- Start by taking five deep belly breaths (in through your nose, out through your mouth). Deep belly breathing increases your oxygen and shifts your body.
- Close your eyes and picture a place that makes you feel peaceful – maybe a place in nature or a favorite place growing up.
- Listen to some soothing music.
Have a playlist ready of songs that make you happy. - Walk the lot.
Breathe in, breathe out, make yourself smile, and go look at some nice cars in the sunshine. - Squeeze a stress ball.
They really do help.
